In his first media appearance since his postgame press conference after the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ postseason loss to the Houston Texans, future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers joined The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday to chat about last season’s overall experience with the Steelers.

As usual, Rodgers showed complete admiration and respect for the organization that he took the field for at age 42. On the cusp of free agency, the four-time MVP and Super Bowl champion was simply full of gratitude.

In this interview, Rodgers gave flowers to his Steelers teammates and coaches for his successful experience in the Steel City in 2025. Here is what the all-time great had to say about his team:

“There were a lot of guys that made the year special…Just the way I was treated out there, I had a blast.”

Rodgers mentioned the likes of former head coach Mike Tomlin, team owner Art Rooney II, former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, as well as wide receiver Ben Skowronek, backup quarterback Will Howard, and veteran defensive tackle Cam Heyward as people who greatly influenced his time in Pittsburgh.

Through the relationships with his teammates and coaches, the NFL legend showed off his greatness en route to an AFC North title. While it wasn’t always pretty, the Steelers also found a way to earn Tomlin his 19th consecutive winning season, which extended an NFL record.

It remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers will be returning to play for the Steelers next season in what would be his 22nd NFL season. If he were to come back, he would be taking the field for a familiar face in former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, who was named the head coach of the Steelers this offseason after Tomlin decided to step down.

While Rodgers was the starter in Green Bay under McCarthy for nearly 11 seasons (2008-2017), the Packers made eight consecutive playoff appearances (2009-2016), won five NFC North titles, went to three NFC Championship games, and took home a Super Bowl title in 2011. Rodgers ended up winning two of his four career MVPs under McCarthy’s stewardship.

Perhaps Rodgers’ previous history with McCarthy, combined with his admiration for his Steelers teammates, along with the organization, could persuade him to come back to play in Pittsburgh for at least one more season.

With the NFL’s free agency period set to take place on March 11th, the Steelers are still waiting to determine who their starting quarterback for 2025 will be. While Rodgers is likely the top option, Will Howard, who will be entering his second NFL season, could also be an option. Furthermore, the team spoke with multiple quarterbacks at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. They have their fair share of directions that they could take.
