Giannis trade preferences for a team revealed, per report

The Bucks superstar reportedly wants to stay in the East and join a team that has no ball-dominant guard.

Giannis Antetokounmpo stood out as the biggest name on everyone's watch ahead of the past NBA trade deadline. But as it is, the Greek superstar was left unmoved despite reports that the Milwaukee Bucks have opened themselves to offers.

Returning from problematic calf issues, Giannis intends to finish this season with the Bucks, while still aiming to secure a postseason berth despite their 26-34 record, which puts them one spot shy of the final Play-In berth in the Eastern Conference.

It remains to be seen how things will unfold the rest of the way. But if Antetokounmpo were to be moved, there is a general belief that he prefers staying in the East and joining a team without a ball-dominant guard, according to Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus.

"That said, there's some buzz in the NBA that Antetokounmpo prefers the East Coast, which is closer to Greece (both by flight and, perhaps more importantly, time zone). Additionally, some claim that Antetokounmpo misses playing with players like Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton, who were partners in the 2021 championship run. That's not to suggest he wants to get the band back together," Pincus wrote.

"Still, some suggest Antetokounmpo doesn't want to play with a ball-dominant lead guard, preferring to be the primary engine driving his team's offense (Holiday and Middleton were comfortable playing without the ball around Antetokounmpo)."

Giannis achieved his dream season back in 2020-21 by having both Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday on his side. With how they became effective by ultimately winning it all, the star big man can't be questioned for his rumored desires.

In the end, teams that remain interested in Antetokounmpo can only continue monitoring the 31-year-old's situation in Milwaukee leading to the offseason.
