The Buffalo Bills might be eyeing a significant trade this offseason. While many are focusing on the possibility of acquiring a top-tier wide receiver, they could also be in the market to land a standout defensive player.
If the Bills are considering adding a defensive player, they should explore trading for a top pass rusher, as a notable player could be available.
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has been a hot topic this NFL offseason, with many teams speculating that he might be on the move. The Raiders appear to be in the midst of a complete rebuild, holding the No. 1 pick in the draft. Trading Crosby could help them free up some much-needed cap space to enhance their roster.
There Could be a Handful of Teams Looking For Crosby
If the Raiders are serious about trading Crosby, the Bills could be a strong contender for him. However, they may have to fend off more than a quarter of the league to secure his services.
Sports Illustrated’s NFL insider, Albert Breer, appeared on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Wednesday and mentioned that many teams are vying for Crosby’s services.
“Obviously, calls have come in (for Crosby),” Breer said. “I think a quarter of the league, if not more, is interested in trading for him at various prices, and now the question is, which way this goes.”
That’s not what the Bills want to hear: that several teams are vying for Crosby’s attention. Buffalo would provide Crosby a solid opportunity to win, but the main challenge is that the Bills aren’t likely to have many assets to trade to acquire him.
First of all, the Bills probably don’t want to part ways with any of their star players to acquire him, and their draft capital isn’t the strongest either, with only seven picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, the first of which comes in at No. 26.
There are probably a handful of teams that believe they are just a Crosby away from making it to the Super Bowl. They might find themselves in the middle of the pack during the NFL Draft, which could present them with an opportunity to trade for him.
The worst-case scenario for the Bills would be to miss out on Crosby, only to see him join a team like the New England Patriots.
Bills Could Lose Out on Crosby to a Team Like New England
New England, like Buffalo, is aiming to improve its pass rush, and Crosby would be a great addition to the Patriots.
The Patriots’ window opened much sooner than many Bills fans probably expected, especially considering how well quarterback Drake Maye performed last season.
New England stole the AFC East away from the Bills, and now it could steal a player Buffalo wants.
It will be interesting to see how the Bills navigate the offseason and which players they target to enhance their roster and improve their chances of reaching their first Super Bowl since the early 1990s.
