Will Stephen Curry sit out for the rest of season due to injury?

As such, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy will be "surprised" if this happens, as they expect Curry to lead them for the remainder of the season.

The Golden State Warriors remain hopeful that Stephen Curry is having a good recovery in the wake of his ongoing long absence.

The two-time MVP hasn't played since late January, as he continues to deal with his "runner's knee" injury. His recovery timeline was already pushed by the Dubs twice, and it remains to be seen whether he can still be on the court with over a month left in the 2025-26 regular season.

As such, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy pushed back on the possibility that the superstar guard will be sitting out for the remainder of the year.

“That’d be very surprising to me; very, very surprising,” Dunleavy told Tim Kawakami of The San Francisco Standard. “But I’m not going to rule anything out. I’m not a doctor and things can go a certain way. I don’t want the headline to be, ‘Steph may be done for the year’ because I’m not ruling it out.

"But just because he’s not playing right now, I just have to acknowledge that yeah, sure, there’s a chance. But we don’t expect that.”

The Dubs have experienced a roller-coaster run all season long. They entered the year with high hopes of competing for a championship, but everything disappeared after Jimmy Butler's torn ACL injury.

Still, the Warriors remain determined to run things back and desperately pull a potential title chase with Curry leading the way. Sitting at the No. 8 seed of the West with a 31-30 record, they still have a chance unless their struggles and Curry's absence continue.

Right now, Golden State can only hope Curry is on track to return sooner rather than later.
