The New England Patriots are set to cut Stefon Diggs after one season with the NFL club.

A league source told ESPN that the star wide receiver was informed of the decision and the move will occur next week, which is the start of the 2026 season.

On social media, Diggs removed all of his Instagram posts but shared a thank you to his fans on his stories “for a hell of a year. We family forever.”

Sports Illustrated reported that the Patriots’ top receiver also unfollowed the team on Instagram.
Cap hit led to decision
The four-time Pro Bowler signed with the Patriots last March for $69 million over three years. However, a cap hit of $26.5 million for 2026 was what led to the decision to release him.
The 32-year-old Diggs helped the Patriots return to the Super Bowl this season, won 29-13 by the Seattle Seahawks.
Diggs caught four touchdowns in the regular season and had a team-high 85 receptions for 1,013 receiving yards. In the playoffs, he had 14 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown in four games.
