Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett was recently pulled over for speeding.

Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett is in trouble with the law again — and it’s for the same reason it always is.

Garrett was cited for speeding on Feb. 21 after being clocked going 94 mph in a 70 mph zone, according to court records first reported by FOX 8 Cleveland. The stop happened around 1:30 a.m.

It marks at least the ninth known speeding citation for Garrett in Northeast Ohio since the Browns selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. It was noted on the citation that Garrett was “kind and cooperative” during the traffic stop. He can either pay a $155 fine or appear in court later this month.

The Browns have not released a statement on the incident.

Myles Garrett Has a Long History of Speeding

It’s not new territory for Garrett. The 30-year-old pass rusher has been pulled over at high speeds on multiple occasions throughout his career. The scariest moment came in September 2022. Garrett’s Porsche 911 Turbo went airborne and rolled multiple times on a rural road. He and a passenger were hospitalized, and Garrett suffered a sprained left shoulder, strained right biceps, and cuts and bruises.

“This will be definitely a wake-up call for me, just try to be smart overall with driving,” Garrett said after the crash, per CBS Sports. “Don’t take anything for granted. Be grateful that I’m still here and just take my time.”

Last August, Garrett was busted going 100 mph in a 60 mph zone just hours after the Browns returned from their preseason opener in Charlotte. Former head coach Kevin Stefanski called it “extremely disappointing.”

“He needs to slow down for his safety and the safety of others,” Stefanski said at the time.

When asked about it during training camp, Garrett refused to engage.

“I’m going to need you to ask a different question so I can focus on this team,” he said.

Myles Garrett Coming Off Record-Setting Season

Garrett is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and is coming off one of the most dominant seasons ever by a defender. After the 2025 campaign, he was a unanimous selection for the award, receiving all 50 first-place votes.

Garrett broke the NFL’s single-season sack record with 23, surpassing the previous mark of 22.5 shared by Michael Strahan and T. J. Watt. Garrett also led the league with 33 tackles for loss, while adding 39 quarterback hits and 60 total tackles.

In March 2025 — after publicly demanding a trade — Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million extension with $123.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at the time.

The Browns are entering a transition period under new head coach Todd Monken, and that change extends to the defensive side of the ball as well. Mike Rutenberg takes over as defensive coordinator after Jim Schwartz’s resignation.

While Garrett has piled up individual honors, including multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards, he has emphasized that his priority is team success, getting the Browns back into the playoffs and competing for a Super Bowl.

“I’m committed to winning, and long as the team organization are doing so and they’re committed to that same thing, then I’m all on board. But if we’re thinking anything other than winning – tanking or rebuilding, that’s not me.”
