Since coming over to the New York Knicks in 2022, Jalen Brunson has elevated himself to the upper echelon of NBA superstars. Amid propelling them to contender status, one former player is ready to place him alongside the iconic franchise’s all-time greats.

Upon getting the chance to have a team built around him, Brunson has proven capable of being a high-level top option in the NBA. He’s turned the Knicks into a perennial playoff team, leading New York to its deepest postseason run in 25 years last year. That said, the ultimate goal for him still remains delivering a championship.

Ahead of their matchup with the OKC Thunder on March 6th, Kendrick Perkins let out a bold proclamation regarding Brunson. He feels that if the superstar guard can win a title, he’ll go down as the best Knicks player ever.

“What he’s already done for this franchise,” Perkins said. “I feel like he’s one championship away from being the greatest Knick ever. The story matters to me.”

Brunson is putting together another dominant season for New York, averaging 26.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 6.2 APG. That said, the jury is waiting for the postseason to weigh in with their true thoughts. Upon entering the year as the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference, Brunson and company have lofty expectations hanging over their heads.

Knicks Super Fan in Awe of Jalen Brunson’s Play vs Thunder

Seeing that they are in one of the largest sports markets in the country, the Knicks have an endless list of high-profile fans. Among them is actor Ben Stiller, who can regularly be found at games and posting about the team on social media.

Stiller has been all-in on the Knicks dating back to their playoff run last year, and appears to be tuned in to see them take on the defending champions. Despite constantly having the chance to see him play up close, he is still amazed by what Brunson is able to do on the court.

Throughout the course of the game, Brunson hit multiple tough shots to keep New York within striking distance. As he continued to put on a show offensively, Stiller gushed about him on X (formerly Twitter).

This post was likely in reference to the late shot clock three Brunson managed to sink despite Cason Wallace being draped all over him.

Jalen Brunson Unable to Help Knicks Take Down the Thunder

Throughout the course of the season, the Knicks have been an up-and-down team on a nightly basis. That said, understanding what a high-profile matchup this way, they fought hard on their home floor against the Thunder. They kept things close for the majority of the night, but would end up falling just short, losing by a final score of 103-100.

Brunson didn’t have the best night offensively, finishing with just 16 points on 5-for-18 shooting. However, he managed to leave his imprint on the game in a different way. The star guard’s playmaking abilities were on full display against OKC, dishing out 15 assists. This marks a new season-high for him, which previously sat at 13.

Following this loss, Brunson and the Knicks will begin preparing for a showdown with another Western Conference contender. They’ll be back in action on March 6th to face off against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
