A popular viral video of Stephen Curry staring down Draymond Green caused the latter to react to the moment. The Golden State Warriors were losing in an embarrassing blowout to the Los Angeles Lakers when Green started yelling at his team on the bench. Rumors started circulating about Curry getting tired of having to deal with Green’s constant antics in Golden State.
Green used his podcast platform to discuss his reaction to the video:
“I see a lot of people’s reactions, like oh man Steph’s tired of Draymond, and quite honestly, what I saw in the video and what I’ve taking away from the video, and be that I talk to Steph every day, Was that he was in agreeance of what I said we were getting our ass kicked, so you’re not going to be sitting there smiling or enthused.
I love how everyone tries to project their energy about me onto Steph. When, quite honestly, their energy really doesn’t f*cking matter when it comes to me. I think the reaction to it was pretty hilarious.”
Green felt that the comments about Curry looking upset at him were inaccurate and tried to proclaim that they were on the same page. The video looked bad for Green, but his words do add full context to the situation.
Was Curry Mad At Draymond Green?
Curry’s annoyed reaction could have easily been about other things, but the timing came when Green was loudly screaming at the bench about the poor play. Golden State faced a struggling Lakers team coming off a loss against the Phoenix Suns missing their best two players.
No one favored the Warriors to beat a healthy Lakers team while missing Curry and Jimmy Butler. However, there was an expectation to compete and make it a close game at home. The Lakers instead dominated from start to finish to expose Golden State’s weak roster.
Green claimed that Curry was on his side since they were both livid about how the team performed that night. Curry holds enough power to enforce change within the roster if he was tired of Green. The two have only exchanged pleasant comments about each other throughout the years to give Green’s words more credence.
Draymond’s Poor Play Putting Him Under Microscope
Green’s recent weak play for Golden State has put a brighter light on his performances. Few expect Green to deliver great performances to lead the team to victories without their two All-Stars and Kristaps Porzingis missing from the lineup.
Unfortunately, the offensive game of Green has been so bad that it stands out even more. Green is averaging 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game on a horrendous 29% shooting percentage from the field since the All-Star break.
If Green was playing better, this story would not have taken off as quickly as it did about another teammate staring at him. Curry badly lacking help this season, and Green’s play diminishing to new lows looks worse. Time will tell if the Warriors follow through on their desired hope to have Draymond spend his entire career there.
