With free agency and the NFL Draft nearing, the speculation surrounding Las Vegas Raiders‘ Maxx Crosby continues to grow. The player’s future with the Silver and Black continues to be a topic in sports media as they speculate which team will make a move for him.
Crosby has had 278 solo tackles, 161 assisted tackles, 69.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception in 110 games for the Raiders in his career, per StatMuse.
Nonetheless, while Crosby is a great player, is timeline, considering he’ll be 29 years old when the 2026 NFL season starts, might not be aligned with the Raiders’ rebuild. As a result, it might be in the team’s best interest to secure the draft picks to aid their rebuild this offseason.
Which is why, FS1 host Colin Cowherd believes that the Chicago Bears should be the team that goes all in to secure the Raiders star, understanding that they have Caleb Williams on his rookie deal for two more seasons.
“The Chicago Bears, they are now this morning the odds-on favorite to sign Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby,” Cowherd said on the March 4 edition of “The Herd.” “Go for it. Ben Johnson’s an aggressive guy. Ryan Poles is an aggressive GM. Go for it.
“It’s the number one need: edge pressure. It’s not a roll of the dice. He’s an elite player, leads the NFL since he entered in tackles for losses… So, you only got two years left with Caleb Williams on the rookie deal. He’s going to get expensive real quick.”
Raheem Mostert Talks Maxx Crosby’s Future With Raiders
Nonetheless, the speculation continues among NFL media, and on March 2, Raheem Mostert was asked about Crosby’s future and whether the veteran edge rusher will remain in Las Vegas.
“Honestly, just knowing Maxx and everything that he brings to an organization, it’s tough to make that decision,“ Mostert said on “Good Morning Football.“ “He’s a very loyal guy, one of the most loyal guys that you could possibly have on your team, and he’s wanting to get the job done. Everything that he does inspires so many people in the community and the organization. I know [Raiders owner Mark Davis] is in love with him and all of him.
“I know everybody loves him. But from a standpoint as a player, I’ve been there before. I’ve been on a losing team where it just didn’t work out. Sometimes you’ve got to think about that next chapter, that next step. It’s going to be interesting to see where he lands. Even if he leaves, it’s going to be interesting what the trade talks are going to look like.”
Maxx Crosby Gets Bold Prediction
Furthermore, on the March 4 edition of “Wake Up Barstool,“ The Athletic’s James Palmer shared a bold take on the Crosby situation.
“I think there’s a chance that this happens this week, that he’s on the move,“ Palmer said. “I think the reason that is, is you want to maximize things, right?
“If you’re [Raiders general manager] John Spytek, and I had a chance to have a conversation with him at the Combine, if you want to maximize this, you want to get it done before everybody else is bidding on edge rushers or spending their money or spending their cap money, and you have the ability to move him before that happens. I think that puts the Raiders in the best spot possible.”
