Chelsea executives travel for transfer work–Controversial move contemplated

Chelsea executives were present at the Meinau Stadium this week to watch Strasbourg defeat Reims and take in Gessime Yassine’s impressive performance.

That’s according to Treize 013. According to their information, Chelsea executives were in attendance for their sister club’s game in the Coupe de France.

The French outlet reports that one player in particular ‘caught their eye’, Gessime Yassine. Gary O’Neil handed him his first start in the game and he did not disappoint. Highlights of his performance have been doing the rounds on social media since the game.

Now, according to Treize, Chelsea are expected to keep a close eye on him in the coming weeks. The 20-year-old is likely to receive even more playing time between now and the end of the season.

Chelsea watching closely

Chelsea will be watching with interest. They have no immediate need for a new right-winger, but that wouldn’t stop them from moving Yassine to Stamford Bridge anyway.

For now, the youngster is just a name to keep an eye on. The Blues, of course, have a close eye on everything happening at their sister club.

Indeed, there have already been 12 moves between the two clubs since BlueCo took charge of Strasbourg in June 2023. That has often been to Chelsea’s benefit rather than the French side’s.

Transfer frustrations

Mamadou Sarr made the move in the January transfer window, while Emanuel Emegha will move to Chelsea in July 2026. That’s before any discussion about Liam Rosenior moving to Chelsea as Enzo Maresca’s replacement as well.

Such moves have already caused plenty of frustration among Strasbourg’s fans. A move for Yassine would, surely, only increase their growing frustrations.

But he has already caught Chelsea’s attention, and they will now be keeping a close eye on his development between now and the end of the current season.
