There was one man at the centre of last night’s win over Aston Villa – Joao Pedro. He bagged three goals for the Blues and at full time spoke to the TV cameras in a fairly emotional way about how this was the culmination of years of work.

“It was a dream night for me. Since I joined Chelsea, I’ve been dreaming of these moments to play for a big team and get my hat-trick – and I think it was a perfect night to get my first hat-trick,” a glowing JP said at full time.

“We just need to keep moving forward. I’m just living my dream here. I’m very grateful to everyone who has helped me on my journey.”

Chelsea fans starting to believe they have a striker at last

The Brazilian has been showered with praise from pundits, his manager and fans after a top number 9 performance. It feels a long time ago that he was on a barren run without a goal.

Chelsea fans, who have been burned so many times in the last 10 years, are starting to open up to the possibility that they may finally secured a top striker to carry on the legacy of Didier Drogba and Diego Costa.

One thing that is very clear is how well JP is doing compared to the other big money signings made in the summer by the other top teams in the league.

Chelsea are considering accelerating young goalkeeper Mike Penders’ development and making him number one next season, one source claims today.
