Joao Pedro’s hattrick last night was the latest instance of his superb form. He’s scored an amazing 10 goals in the two months since Liam Rosenior took over,
Under Enzo Maresca, JP looked uncomfortable as a 9 and uncomfortable as a 10. There was a lot of debate about how to use him, where to use him, how to get the best out of him, and even if he was good enough.
Rosenior has just made things very clear for him, and has the whole team working to serve the striker in the box. His goals last night were proper number 9 stuff, sliding in goals from inside the 6 yard box, then showing off his trademark chipped finish.

When you compare his numbers to the other big striker signings from the summer, it’s pretty clear how well he’s doing. His 19 combined goals and assists have him clear of Huge Ekitike (15), Viktor Gyokeres (10) and Benjamin Sesko (10).
At this rate he will crack 25 G/A in the Premier League alone this season, a huge success by anyone’s standards. There is still so much improvement to come from the Brazilian and his teammates too.
In other news…
Chelsea are considering accelerating young goalkeeper Mike Penders’ development and making him number one next season, one source claims today.
Liam Rosenior backed Alejandro Garnacho to succeed last night, and the winger did just that with a superb effort on the left.
