Former Everton manager Sean Dyche has shed some light on the falling out between Frank Lampard and Abdoulaye Doucoure on Merseyside.

Thankfully, Everton have become a considerably more stable club over the last 12 months under the ownership of The Friedkin Group.

The last five-or-so years had been turbulent at Goodison Park, with financial issues and managerial changes regularly occurring.

Former midfielder Doucoure admitted he almost left Everton because of Lampard due to the falling out they had at Finch Farm.

Years on from their disagreement, Dyche has shed some light on it from Lampard’s perspective.

What Frank Lampard said about his Abdoulaye Doucoure disagreement at Everton

Doucoure left Everton over the summer as he joined the Saudi Pro League side Neom as a free agent.

The Mali midfielder racked up 166 appearances on Merseyside, with 28 of those coming under Lampard.

“Doucoure was amazing for me from day one that I got in there,” Dyche said on The Football Boardroom podcast.

“Frank had fallen out with him and, you know Frank, I’ve spoken to Frank since I get well with Frank doing brilliant of course at Coventry currently and it was just a clash of people and personalities.

“But I got him [Doucoure] straight back in and loved him. Immediately he played where he’s playing for me and he was terrific.”

Idrissa Gana Gueye remains good friends with Doucoure, who will not be forgotten at Everton for some of the important goals he scored to keep the club in the Premier League.

Although Lampard had a fairly blasé account of the falling out, it did leave Doucoure considering his future at the club.
