Mikel Arteta to sell£150k-a-week Arsenal star and sign Bundesliga star as replacement?

Speculation over Gabriel Martinelli’s future at Arsenal has intensified after reports suggested the club could be willing to sell the Brazilian winger in the upcoming summer transfer window. According to ICFootballNews, the Gunners are open to offers for Martinelli as manager Mikel Arteta looks to reshape parts of his attacking unit ahead of next season.

The development has naturally raised questions about who could replace the 24-year-old should ARSENAL decide to cash in. One name increasingly linked with a potential move to north London is Karim Adeyemi, whose contract situation at Borussia Dortmund has reportedly become uncertain.

German publication Bild recently reported that Adeyemi has stalled on discussions over a new deal at Dortmund, opening the door to possible interest from clubs across Europe.

Among the teams believed to be monitoring the situation are Arsenal and Manchester United, both of whom are expected to strengthen their attacking options in the next transfer window.

For Arsenal, Adeyemi could represent a logical stylistic replacement if Martinelli departs. Much like the Brazilian, the Dortmund forward is known for his explosive pace, direct dribbling and ability to attack defenders in one-on-one situations. His versatility also allows him to operate across the front line, whether on the left wing, right flank or through the centre.

Arteta has placed a strong emphasis on dynamic wide players capable of stretching opposition defences, and Adeyemi’s speed in transition could fit well within Arsenal’s high-tempo attacking system.

At 24, he also falls into the age profile the club has targeted in recent years—young enough to develop further but already experienced at the highest level of European competition.

However, a move would not come without challenges. Dortmund are under little pressure to sell and would likely demand a significant fee for one of their most valuable attacking assets. The Bundesliga side have historically been open to selling key players, but only when their valuation is met.

There is also the question of whether Adeyemi would be a guaranteed starter in north London. ARSENAL already possess several attacking options, and Arteta tends to favour tactical discipline and defensive work rate from his wide players—areas that have sometimes been scrutinised in Adeyemi’s game.

Still, with uncertainty surrounding Martinelli’s future and Adeyemi’s contract talks reportedly stalling in Germany, the coming months could see Arsenal explore the possibility of bringing the German international to the Premier League.
