Gareth Bale has hailed Carlo Ancelotti’s ability to keep the peace, which is a strong contrast to reports of Everton unrest in 2020.

Ancelotti was at the helm for 67 Everton games before he departed in 2021 to rejoin Real Madrid.

Back in 2020, the Daily Mirror suggested that some Everton players were unhappy with Ancelotti behind the scenes over some of his tactical decisions.

Jordan Pickford was urged to improve by Ancelotti, with Bale hailing the Italian’s man management skills.

The comments from the former Tottenham Hotspur forward only raise questions over the reported concerns some of Everton’s players had with the 66-year-old manager.

Gareth Bale’s Carlo Ancelotti praise quashes Everton discontent rumours

Luka Modric hailed Ancelotti as his greatest-ever manager to play under, and that is a sentiment shared by Bale.

“Carlo, in terms of just keeping the peace, man management, and winning with him,” Bale said on the Stick to Football podcast.

“It was like he was still a player. He had that relationship where you could still be a player, but he would have that respect where there was a line and you knew also that if you didn’t train well, he would hammer you.

“As much as he was your best mate, you knew there was that switch where you were like: I can’t cross that line.”

The report from 2020 suggested that Ancelotti was limiting the capability of his Everton players by playing such a direct style of football.

Ancelotti could be set for an Everton reunion, with his Brazil side rumoured to potentially be set for a friendly at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

However, Bale’s comments suggest that Ancelotti’s door always remained open when at Madrid, with Everton players surely able to communicate this with the manager.

Even if there were concerns over the style of play at Goodison Park, Bale has waxed lyrical about Ancelotti’s man management style, that would quash any concerns behind the scenes with his players.
