Liverpool are believed to have made contact with Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise over a summer move to the club, but Manchester City are also keen.
The Reds must sign at least one new attacking wide man at the end of the 2025/26 season, if not two, given their struggles there of late.
Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo have both suffered tough campaigns, with the former past his best and latter too one-dimensional, and they didn’t replace Luis Diaz last this summer.
Olise is a player who has been mentioned as a top-quality option for Liverpool for months now, having developed into arguably a world-class attacking player at Bayern since his move from Crystal Palace.
According to a new report from TEAMtalk, the Reds and FSG have made contact with Bayern over a move to Anfield for the Frenchman in the next window.
Olise is rated at a whopping £86.9m by Bayern, with Liverpool’s Premier League rivals City also in the conversation to snap him up.
Is Michael Olise a perfect summer option for Liverpool?
Olise is such a special footballer, combining elite technical ability and also end product, being lauded by teammate Dayot Upamecano: “He’s a magician. His technical level is very high. He can do everything. He can score, set up, and even defend.”
This season, he already has an incredible 26 goal contributions in the Bundesliga – 10 goals and 16 assists – and he will be hoping to play a starring role for France at the 2026 World Cup this summer.
Olise feels tailor-made to be Salah’s successor at Liverpool, lighting up games with his brilliance on the right wing, cutting onto his left foot and linking superbly with those around him.
An added bonus is that he has proven himself in the Premier League in a Palace shirt, bagging 14 goals and 22 assists in 82 appearances in the competition, so he shouldn’t need time to get back into the groove of things in English football.
Bayern will understandably want to keep hold of one of their influential players, but the hope is that Olise likes the idea of a move to Liverpool, allowing them to pip City to his signature in the process.
