Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai is enjoying his best season yet for the club since he moved from RB Leipzig in 2023. The midfielder has been one of Arne Slot's most consistent performers this term, playing in midfield and at right-back.

Szoboszlai has contributed to 18 goals in 38 games across all competitions. But with the Reds' failed attempt to retain their Premier League title and struggles throughout the season, some concerns over the 25-year-old's future have emerged.

Real Madrid have been linked with the Hungary international since he moved to Anfield, though their apparent interest has never gathered pace. However, Szoboszlai's national team manager, Marco Rossi has claimed that the midfielder has always dreamed of representing the Spanish giants.

"Szoboszlai always had one dream: to play for Real Madrid," Rossi told Spanish news outlet Marca. "I don't know if he'll be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club."

The midfielder's agent has since played down talk of interest in a move to Madrid in the summer, insisting Szoboszlai is not looking for a move away from Liverpool. "It's completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to talk about what's next and if there's something higher," Matyas Esterhazy told Hungary news outlet NB1.

"For us it’s not a topic. We are mid-season; he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League. He has said many times how important this competition is for him.

"So at the moment to talk about what will happen in the summer in my opinion is not correct. Not to mention, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere.”

So, the Liverpool ace has no consideration to move to Madrid, yet. However, further concern within the Anfield fanbase has been sparked this week after Szoboszlai liked a post on social media which referred to Rossi's comments and a potential move to Spain.

'433' on Instagram, which has 77.5 million followers, posted an AI generated graphic of Vinicius Junior handing a pair of boots to Szoboszlai. The post included a post from the midfielder of a pair of boots - which he tagged the Real Madrid star in - and an image of Szoboszlai replicating Vinicius' pistol celebration.

The caption read: "Vinícius Jr. surprised Szoboszlai with a fresh pair of boots - The bromance between the two keeps growing… Just a month ago, Vini opened up about their friendship to streamer Ibai: 'I talk a lot with Szoboszlai. We met when we were younger.' And remember when Szobo hit Vini’s iconic pistol celebration earlier this season? Hungary head coach Marco Rossi recently said Real Madrid has always been Szoboszlai’s dream club. Maybe one day we’ll see this bromance on the same team."

One of the 650k+ users to like the post was Szoboszlai himself, sparking a theory among some supporters that he is interested in joining Vinicius in Spain.

Unfortunately, it all feels very similar to Trent Alexander-Arnold's situation prior to his move to Madrid.

The right-back left Liverpool in the summer for Los Blancos, months after speculation and uncertainty over whether he will stay on Merseyside. When Alexander-Arnold left his boyhood club, the reception from fans was mixed, partially down to some of his social media activity.

Szoboszlai's actions at Liverpool and the words of his agent will at least keep a lid on any doubts about his future for now. He only has two more years remaining on his current deal, although reports indicate talks have been opened over a new and improved contract.
