The Packers Have Reportedly Been Connected To Brandon Aubrey

It seems like the Dallas Cowboys have dramatic negotiations with their top free agents every offseason. With that being said, the latest drama involves All-Pro kicker Brandon Aubrey.

There's no question Aubrey is worthy of receiving a long-term contract. He has made 112 of 127 field goal attempts since taking his talents to Dallas in 2023. The three-time Pro Bowler has really excelled from long range, making 35 field goals from at least 50 yards out.

With free agency set to begin next Wednesday, the Cowboys are preparing to use a second-round tender on Aubrey. If he were to play on the tender, he'd earn $5.81 million for the 2026 season.

"Obviously the tender is what the Cowboys have talked about, and it's a good problem to have," Aubrey said, via Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News. "It's a good amount of money, and it's a big pay raise from before, but it's not the ideal for any player. We'll see what happens. I'm excited to be in this position. It's an opportunity for me so I'm thankful for that."

Before Aubrey made these remarks Wednesday, a rumor about him leaving "America's Team" for the NFC North surfaced on social media.

According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Green Bay Packers have been in contact with Aubrey's reps. He claims communication between these two sides started at the NFL Scouting Combine.

What does Brandon Aubrey want?

Clarence Hill Jr. previously reported that Aubrey has an offer on the table that would make him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL. That title is currently held by Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, who's earning $6.4 million per season at the moment.

It's being reported that Aubrey's camp is seeking a long-term contract with an annual average of $10 million.

While we doubt the Cowboys are interested in paying $10 million for a kicker, perhaps they could meet in the middle and give him $8 million.
