Carmelo Anthony explains how Tatum should handle his return

Carmelo Anthony advised Jayson Tatum to approach his Celtics return with maturity, putting ego aside while Jaylen Brown has carried the team in his absence. Anthony emphasized that Tatum's reintegration should preserve Boston's momentum and strengthen their championship chances.

Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony shared his thoughts on how Jayson Tatum should approach his comeback to the Boston Celtics, emphasizing the need for maturity and a team-first mindset.

The Celtics have been one of the league's biggest surprises this season, sitting second in the Eastern Conference at 41-21, despite missing Tatum for most of the year.

With the six-time All-Star reportedly close to returning after weeks of full 5-on-5 practice, the team now faces the challenge of reintegrating him without disrupting the momentum.

"JT's gotta be very mature about this situation," Anthony said on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. "There's no egos, there's no pride. We got a chance to come back and win a championship, so let me just put my pride and my ego to the side for these next three months and continue to let JB steer the ship, 'cause he's proving that he's doing it. He's doing it at an MVP level on both sides of the court."

Anthony highlighted the role of Jaylen Brown, who has carried the Celtics' offense in Tatum's absence. The All-Star wing is averaging 28.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, numbers comparable to Tatum's output last season when he finished fourth in MVP voting.

"For so long JB has sacrificed everything. Now it's like JT, what are you going to sacrifice? But now I held the fort down for you and the whole organization. JT has to be very mature about this situation," he concluded.
