Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers Makes a Promise About His Future

For the third time in as many offseasons, Aaron Rodgers is weighing his options. The Pittsburgh Steelers would welcome him back with open arms, but he’s a free agent and is considering retirement.

The four-time NFL MVP made an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” and he revealed that he’s in no rush to make a decision. In fact, he doesn’t even have a contract offer on his table right now:

“There’s been no deadline that’s been put in front of me,” Rodgers told McAfee. “There’s no contract offer or anything. So there’s nothing that I’m having to debate between. I’m a free agent and, again, I’m enjoying my time with my wife and enjoying this part of the offseason. I think there’s conversations to be had down the line. There hasn’t been any progressive conversations.”

However, while he’s still on the fence about whether to play for another season or not, he’s positive about one thing: Once he walks away from the game, the fans won’t see or hear from him in a very, very long time.

That means he won’t be doing any television once he decides to call it quits.

"When this is done, it's Keyser Soze, and you won't see me," Rodgers said. "You won't see me. I'm not doing TV. … I'm not gonna be out and about."

Rodgers’ controversial takes and confrontational character have made him must-watch television, even for his detractors. He’s shared a fair share of incendiary comments, and that’s gold for ratings. On top of that, he’s one of the most cerebral passers the game has ever seen, so his input as an analyst would also probably be in high demand.

He completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions last season, and while that’s a down year for him, it would probably be a career year for most signal-callers.

The Steelers hired former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin, and he’s already won a Super Bowl with Rodgers behind center. Whether he’ll have a chance to do the same in 2026 is anybody’s guess right now.
