Liverpool are reportedly in the mix to potentially sign break-out Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson.

Forest paid around £35m to prise him away from boyhood club Newcastle in the summer of 2024, a deal driven as much by Newcastle’s need to ease PSR pressure as it was by Forest’s belief they were getting a future centrepiece of their midfield.

Anderson earned his first senior England call-up in August 2025. He made his Three Lions debut the following month, coming off the bench in a World Cup qualifier against Andorra. He is very much in contention to be in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming World Cup this summer.

Now talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has reported that the Anfield club has been monitoring the England international, although both Manchester City and Manchester United are in contention with the former thinking they have the advantage in any transfer race:

“Manchester City are primed to step up their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson,” Crook reported.

“The England international is seen as a potential successor for Rodri and City believe Anderson favours a move to them over neighbours Manchester United, who are also keen.”

“Aside from the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool have also kept close tabs on the 23-year-old.”

It’s added that Forest value the midfielder in excess of £70m:

“Forest value Anderson at more than double the £35m they paid Newcastle to sign him in the summer of 2024.”

The 23-year-old has featured in every one of Nottingham Forest’s Premier League games so far this season, managing two goals and three assists in the process.

Across his time at Forest, Anderson has already racked up over 60 Premier League appearances for the club, chipping in with important goals and assists from midfield and regularly ranking among their top performers for chances created and ball recoveries.

His all-action style, combining tenacious pressing with the ability to glide past players and thread passes between the lines, has seen his value skyrocket
