Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears nearing blockbuster trade for star WR

The Buffalo Bills failed to replace Stefon Diggs after the wide receiver left for the Houston Texans following the 2023 season. The Bills had Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman in the WR room, but neither stepped up when Diggs left.

Amid rumors suggesting they would have interest in landing A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, another NFC team showed up with a reliable wide receiver. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills and the Chicago Bears are working on a deal that would send D.J. Moore to Buffalo.

Schefter says that compensation is still in discussion, but both teams are actively working to materialize the trade. It won’t be processed until the new league year begins next Wednesday.

Khalil Shakir led the Bills in receptions (72), targets (95), yards (719) and ranked second in touchdowns (four) in 2025. The Bills relied on James Cook to lead the defense. Moore could give them an edge as they continue to push for a Super Bowl berth.

D.J. Moore’s production decreased last season. He went from 98 receptions in 2024 to 50 last season, 140 targets to 85 and 966 yards to 682. Rome Odunze’s breakout year relegated him, while Luther Burden III showed off his abilities, too.

The Bills can give him the chance to become a true WR1 again, like he was in Carolina and during his first season with the Bears. Moore, 28, might fly under the radar, but he could cause a lot of damage alongside Josh Allen.
