The Minnesota Vikings are without a doubt adding a QB this offseason, and a new name has entered the fray.

There has been countless connections to countless other quarterbacks. Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and Anthony Richardson is just the beginning.

Whoever comes in is likely to be thrown into a competition with J.J. McCarthy on day one. Whether that’s good or bad for McCarthy, time will tell.

A new name has been thrown into the hat, coming from Zach Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

Vikings, Joe Flacco Brought Together In Speculation

Rosenblatt downplayed the Murray steam, and predicted the Vikings to go after Joe Flacco (and Anthony Richardson). For now, we’ll cover Flacco.

“Flacco makes some sense as a fallback option. He showed last season in Cincinnati that he’s still capable of leading an offense: He threw for 13 touchdowns and four interceptions in nine games.

He’s a good veteran presence to have in any quarterback room, especially one with two young quarterbacks, and he’s looking for an opportunity to at least compete to start — which he’d get in Minnesota.

Also, according to The Athletic’s Alec Lewis, Flacco was “very much in play” for Minnesota last season before it settled on Carson Wentz — who shouldn’t be ruled out entirely as an option either.”

Flacco spent his 2025 season in the state of Ohio. It began in Cleveland before he was traded to Cincinnati to aid in their QB room with the injury of Joe Burrow and poor play of Jake Browning.

Flacco’s coming off a season in which he threw for 2,479 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 13 appearances. He will be an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday, and will definitely have suitors.

Dan Orlovsky Claims Kyler Murray Is Not A Fit For Minnesota

On an episode of Get Up on ESPN, Orlovsky had a strong take about the fit of Kyler Murray’s fit in Minnesota.

“I only like it. I do not love it. If I were Minnesota, my number one goal is to trade for Mac Jones, number two would be Aaron Rodgers and then I would entertain Kyler…in Kyler’s words, ‘I want to be a playmaker’. That’s not the role of the QB in this offense. In this offense, [the QB is a] point guard.”

There’s no denying that Kyler Murray wouldn’t be fun in the Vikings’ offense. The hypotheticals of his talents being at the hands of Kevin O’Connell and throwing to Justin Jefferson is the stuff of daydreams.

It only helps that the Vikings won’t really have to pay Murray anything if he is released by Arizona.
