Bills acquire D.J. Moore from Bears as Josh Allen adds another weapon in Super Bowl pursuit

The Buffalo Bills have filled a hole in their roster after agreeing to terms with the Chicago Bears to acquire wide receiver D.J. Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick.

After an underwhelming end to their season that saw them lose in overtime of the AFC divisional round to the Denver Broncos, new head coach Joe Brady is making sure that quarterback Josh Allen has weapons he can rely on next season.

With Moore filling a position of need, the Bills can now get creative with the No. 26 overall pick, potentially using it to reinforce their defensive line, which was a liability against the run this past season.

Moore reunites with Brady to help Bills chase Super Bowl

Moore is coming off a down year in which he recorded career lows in receptions and receiving yards, but still showed flashes of production, finishing in a three-way tie for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with six.

According to NFL insider James Palmer, the consensus around the league is that D.J. Moore is still a good receiver and that his lack of production last season stemmed from inconsistent chemistry with quarterback Caleb Williams.

Looking to get his career back on track, Moore will now reunite with Brady, who was Moore’s offensive coordinator for two years during their time back with the Carolina Panthers.

Brady was fired in the middle of his second season, but in their one full season together in 2020, Moore had 1,193 receiving yards, four touchdowns and a career-high 18.1 yards per catch.

Moore’s addition alongside the Bills' leading receiver last season, Khalil Shakir, gives Allen a formidable duo capable of consistently winning against one-on-one coverage while generating yards after the catch.

Their partnership alongside tight end Dalton Kincaid and running back James Cook could help Brady rebuild an offense that could help Allen return to his MVP form and finally get over the playoff hump that has defined his career.

With Moore joining and the NFL draft next month, Brady now has greater flexibility to reshape the team in his image as he prepares to enter the season with Super Bowl expectations.
