Everton have their sights set on making Europe this season under David Moyes

Everton boss David Moyes has been described as a ‘phenomenal’ coach by ex-player Jermaine Beckford. The Toffees won 2-0 at home against Burnley last time out. Defender James Tarkowski and midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall got their goals against the Clarets at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Merseyside outfit are sat in 8th place in the Premier League. They are back in action this weekend as they aim to keep their momentum going. Next up is an away trip to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal.

David Moyes doing a solid job at Everton

Everton will be in confident mood as they prepare to face Arsenal. They will need to be at their best if they are to get anything down in London on Saturday. The Gunners are top of the table ahead of Manchester City and are on the brink of the title under Mikel Arteta.

The Toffees are in good spirits though and will fancy their chances of giving them a good game. Moyes has done a solid job since his return last season. He was brought back after the club’s decision to part ways with Sean Dyche and he has since steadied the ship.

Everton made some smart signings last summer like Dewsbury-Hall, Thierno Barry and Jack Grealish. They will get the chance to make some more additions when the next transfer window opens up for business later this year. They have their sights set on getting into Europe and if they do, they will need more bodies in their squad for next term to deal with the increased workload.

Jermaine Beckford on Everton boss David Moyes

Beckford has said, as per BBC Sport: "David Moyes is a phenomenal coach. I've been fortunate enough to work with him during my time. I know what he is capable of, what he focuses on and what he prides himself on.

"He prides himself on hardworking players, really well organised, really well disciplined. This season especially he has got a lot of big players, physically big players, but they've got a lot of technique about them as well. You mix that in with a bit of stardust like Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and you've got something really, really special. That is what he has got.”

He added: "If you watch Everton, especially at home, they play good football but results-wise have not been great. A few games where they have looked impressive but not been able to get the goal to get them over the line. But against Burnley they were real really good.

"With Liverpool's defeat last night, they will be licking their lips and thinking 'wow, we are only five points away from them, what is possible?'. The possibilities are endless, aren't they?"
