West Bromwich Albion officially hire former Liverpool player as technical director

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool meet for the second time in four days when they face off at Molineux in Friday night’s FA Cup fifth-round clash.

Wolves stunned the Reds with a 2-1 Premier League victory earlier this week, and Rob Edwards will hope his side can build on that momentum. However, securing consecutive wins over Liverpool will be a tough task.

Arne Slot’s men, meanwhile, will be eager to respond and regain form as the 2025-26 campaign enters a decisive phase. Despite winning the Premier League last season and strengthening in the summer, Liverpool have fallen short of expectations.

Elsewhere, West Bromwich Albion have appointed former Liverpool player Dominic Price as Technical Director. The Englishman joins from Israeli champions Maccabi Tel-Aviv and will oversee the Baggies’ academy, performance analysis, medical and sports science departments, while shaping squad planning and football operations.

Released by Liverpool at 16, Price studied at John Moores University and worked in law before returning to football as an academy coach at Anfield.

He later served as Head of Performance Analysis at Blackpool under Neil Critchley, returned to Liverpool as a first-team analyst under Jurgen Klopp, and moved to Maccabi Tel-Aviv in 2023.

On joining the Baggies, Price said: “I am delighted to be here, and I am grateful to Shilen Patel and the club’s board for placing their trust in me. Together, we will focus on building strong foundations, driving standards, and supporting the continued development and progression of the club.

“This club is steeped in history and tradition and with that heritage comes significant responsibility, which is certainly not lost on me.

“I fully understand the importance of this role and will carry it out with the long-term interests and success of the club as my absolute priority.”

Albion Chairman Shilen Patel added: “I am pleased to welcome Dom to the club. I look forward to him contributing his perspective, practices, and enthusiasm to our efforts to continually improve.

“This is an important appointment for the football club and one I am confident will strengthen us both on and off the pitch in the years to come.”

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Dominic Price as the club’s new Technical Director.

The Englishman will join the Baggies following a three-year tenure in the same role at reigning Israeli Premier League champions Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
