Everton have their sights set on reaching Europe this season under David Moyes
Sandro Tonali has admitted Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford made a ‘great’ save against him last weekend. The Toffees’ number one denied the Magpies’ midfielder with an eye-catching stop late in the game. David Moyes’ men won 3-2.
They then backed up that result with a 2-0 victory over Burnley on Tuesday night. James Tarkowski and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall got their goals against the Clarets at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. They are now placed in 8th place in the Premier League table.

Everton stopper Pickford has been a great servant to the club. He joined them back in 2017 and has made the number one spot his own since then. The North East-born man has made 346 appearances in all competitions for them to date, 27 of which have come this season.
The England international, who has 81 caps to his name, rose up through Sunderland’s academy as a youngster. He was loaned out by the Black Cats to Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End to get some experience under his belt and to boost his development. The ‘keeper then broke into the first-team at the Stadium of Light and played 35 games before heading to the North West.

Tonali was impressed with Pickford’s save against him and he has since said in an interview with Italian news outlet Tuttosport: “Yes, the save was great! It bothers me a little, but in the end, when a player does something great, you have to tell him. You can’t beat around the bush. I congratulated him right away after the match: he did something that rarely happens. I may have made one of the best shots of my life. It was definitely the best save against me.
“The great thing is that here in every game you have a player who impresses you. That’s the real plus of the Premier League. Every team you play against, even if you don’t know all the players, you discover that they have their own quality. No one should be underestimated.”
