The Dallas Cowboys have reportedly shown interest in Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby, but there's no guarantee they'll win the sweepstakes.
Crosby, a five-time Pro Bowler, has racked up 439 total tackles, 164 QB hits, 69.5 sacks and 11 forced fumbles during his career with the Las Vegas Raiders. He's under contract through the 2029 season, but the expectation is that he'll be moved this offseason.
CBS Sports insider Jonathan Jones said earlier this week that Dallas is "best positioned" to acquire Crosby in a trade this offseason. That makes sense considering the Cowboys own the 12th and 20th overall picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, the latest update on this situation claims Jerry Jones might get outbid by another team.
Former ESPN host Trey Wingo is reporting that other teams are potentially offering a pair of first-round picks for Crosby. Instead of waiting for these sweepstakes to play out, the Cowboys are apparently shifting their focus to Trey Hendrickson.
"Things are moving fast re Maxx Crosby," Wingo said. "Last night Dallas thought they were close to a deal but since then other teams have raised the ante and potentially are offering the Raiders 2 1st round picks. Expect Dallas to now shift their focus to Trey Hendrickson."
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) watches a replay as the Detroit Lions celebrate a touchdown in the fourth quarter of the NFL Week 5 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Detroit Lions at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025. The Bengals continued a losing streak, falling 37-24 to the Lions.
Trey Hendrickson would be a decent pick.
It's becoming very evident that Hendrickson will leave the Cincinnati Bengals. With that being said, he'd be a fine addition to the Cowboys' defensive line.
"I have you have to make a run at a guy like Trey because that would make your defensive front pretty formidable," ESPN analyst Louis Riddick said, via On3. "Think about Quinnen Williams, Trey Hendrickson, Osa Odighizuwa. That's a pretty good group. Kenny Clark, Donovan Ezeiruaku… Now you're cooking."
Since signing with the Bengals in 2021, Hendrickson has recorded 171 tackles and 61 sacks. While an argument can be made that his best football is slightly behind him, he'd immediately upgrade Dallas' pass rush.
