It’s a stunning development given the initial prognosis was that Tatum would miss the entire 2025-2026 season after suffering a torn right Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Knicks on May 12, 2025.

The 28-year-old will inform the Celtics of a final decision over the next day.

The Celtics will arguably become the favourites to take out the title this season with Tatum returning.

Despite being without their best player, the Celtics have shocked many en route to a 41-21 record which is good for 2nd in the Eastern Conference behind Detroit (45-15).

Tatum averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game last season
