Brewer man among many Mainers heading to Boston to see Cooper Flagg

BREWER, Maine (WABI) - TD Garden is preparing for a Maine takeover as Flagg and his Dallas Mavericks come to town Friday.

For Flagg’s fans, it’s a date that’s been on the calendar all season as it’s the only time Cooper and the Mavs play in Boston this year.

Among the Mainers attending the game will be Brewer’s Ben Bubar.

He said his mother Nancy, who previously didn’t care much for basketball, started following Flagg back when he was still playing in Maine and then at Duke last year and now into the pros.

Last month at her birthday party, he surprised her with tickets to the game for the whole family.

“We’re excited and they’re thrilled,” he said. “No one in my family other than myself and my wife have been to a Celtics game, so my mom was really, really excited knowing that she would be going to Boston to see the Mavericks play and Cooper Flagg. My family bleeds Celtics green for sure but my mother will be cheering for Cooper Flagg and we will all be routing for Cooper on Friday night against the Celtics.”

We asked Bubar what the tickets, six all together for his mother, father, wife and two children, set him back.

He declined to comment but was hopeful it would help him in the son, husband, and father of the year races.
