Joao Pedro Opens Up on His Relationship With Cole Palmer

Joao Pedro has said nice things about his teammate Cole Palmer, revealing that the playmaker has been a big help to him in settling in and doing well at Stamford Bridge since he moved from Brighton. The 24-year-old Brazilian is having a great first season with the Blues, with 14 goals and 5 assists in 29 games so far.

Under manager Liam Rosenior, his partnership with Palmer has become one of the most exciting attacking combinations in the league, with the two of them always working together to great effect. Pedro made it very clear how much he admired Palmer’s influence on the game:

“Cole Palmer, everyone knows, he’s a special player, and since I joined, he has always tried to be around and help me. We are always together in training, and outside we try to be together as well. I love to play with him.”

Their chemistry was clear when Chelsea won the Club World Cup in the summer of 2025. Both players scored three goals as the Blues lifted the trophy. Since then, the two have continued to learn more about each other. Leon Osman, a former Premier League midfielder, notably mentioned that Palmer “brought Joao Pedro to life” during their Champions League win over Napoli earlier in the season.

Joao Pedro Scores Three Goals As Chelsea Beat Aston Villa 4-1 At Villa Park

On Wednesday night, Chelsea showed off the Pedro-Palmer connection by coming back from behind to beat Aston Villa 4-1 away from home. Douglas Luiz put Villa ahead early, in the first three minutes, but the home team’s lead didn’t last long.

Enzo Fernandez played the ball to Malo Gusto, who passed it to Pedro to score and tie the game in the 35th minute. The Brazilian then scored again deep into first-half stoppage time with a classy dinked finish after Fernandez set him up. Chelsea went into the break up 2-1.

Ten minutes into the second half, Palmer increased the lead by scoring from the edge of the box after Emi Martinez parried a cross. Pedro then scored his third goal in the 64th minute by tapping in from close range after Alejandro Garnacho made a cross after a smooth team move.

Pedro became the eighth Brazilian to score a hat trick in the Premier League. The clear win put Chelsea ahead of Liverpool and into fifth place, just three points behind Villa. The Blues are now getting ready for an FA Cup trip to Wrexham on Saturday and a very important Champions League trip to Paris Saint-Germain next week.
