The Green Bay Packers are facing quite a few roster decisions with free agency about to begin. One of those decisions revolves around former first-round pick Quay Walker.

Walker, who was the No. 22 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, has been a major player within the Packers’ defense. Unfortunately, it seems very likely that he will be leaving town this offseason in free agency.

During the 2025 season, Walker played in 14 games. He racked up 128 tackles to go along with 2.5 sacks and five defended passes.

Assuming he does choose to leave Green Bay, the Packers will need to act quickly to replace him in the middle of their defense.

There are a few intriguing inside linebacker options that Brian Gutekunst and the front office could consider. One of them happens to be Denver Broncos free agent linebacker Alex Singleton.

Green Bay Packers Could Target Alex Singleton to Replace Quay Walker

On SI’s Bill Huber, a longtime reporter covering the Packers, has suggested Singleton as an option Green Bay could look into this offseason.

He also noted that Singleton is very familiar with new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, which could make him an obvious target for the Packers.

“Singleton played under Gannon with the Eagles in 2021, when he had 137 tackles, before spending the last four seasons with the Broncos,” Huber wrote. “He played all 17 games (16 starts) in 2023, missed most of 2024 following a torn ACL, and started all 16 appearances in 2025 despite being diagnosed with testicular cancer.”

Singleton has been one of the more underrated inside linebackers in the NFL recently. He may be 32 years old, but he would be more than capable of helping replace Walker in the short term.

Last season with the Broncos, Singleton played in 16 games. He totaled 135 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and four defended passes. Throughout his entire 95-game NFL career, he holds totals of 768 tackles, five sacks, three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, and 17 defended passes.

What Would It Take for the Packers to Sign Singleton?

One perk of pursuing Singleton would be the price tag. He isn’t expected to command a hefty contract this offseason.

Spotrac has projected that Singleton’s market value will sit somewhere around $4.7 million per season. Their suggested contract for him would be two years and just over $9.3 million.

Assuming that price is accurate, Green Bay should strongly consider him as an option. Gutekunst could look to be more aggressive in replacing Walker. Huber also noted that Nakobe Dean could be a player to look at.

However, the Packers will need to be smart with their money this offseason. Adding Singleton on a lower deal would allow them to spend some money elsewhere, such as the offensive line or defensive secondary.
