Ja Morant out 2 weeks or more for Grizzlies with elbow injury

Recent imaging shows incomplete healing on the Memphis star's left elbow.

The Memphis Grizzlies announced Thursday that Ja Morant is still experiencing discomfort from the UCL sprain in his left elbow. He underwent follow-up imaging, which revealed incomplete healing.

As a result, he will be out for at least another two weeks with the team.

Morant hasn't played a game since Jan. 21 since he sustained his elbow issues. It remains to be seen if he can return by mid-March, or the Grizzlies will subsequently shut him down for the remainder of the season due to their brutal 23-28 record and brand-new rebuild plans.

With Morant still being sidelined, Scotty Pippen and Ty Jerome will continue to lead the Grizzlies' backcourt.

Morant has been relatively often-injured again this season. He only appeared in 20 games, averaging 19.5 points and 8.1 assists.
