CALVIN ANDERSON’S GOODBYE
NFL free agency opens in a few days. To prepare for that, many teams are cutting ties with players to free up cap space. That includes the Steelers. They’ve parted ways with a few veterans. While Jonnu Smith is a more notable name, they also released backup offensive lineman Calvin Anderson.
Anderson joined the Steelers in 2024, and he appeared in 13 games in two seasons. While he didn’t start, he was a reliable backup option. Unfortunately, an injury shortened his 2025 season, and now, the Steelers are moving on from him. Anderson took to Twitter to say goodbye to Pittsburgh and thank the city and team for having him. It’s a nice message from the veteran lineman.
Thank you to the city of Pittsburgh and Steeler nation for welcoming my family and I these last few years!
The most bittersweet part of the NFL is the communities of people you get the chance to encounter, both teammates/coaches and fanbases.

JEROME BETTIS TRIBUTE TO LOU HOLTZ
Jerome Bettis is one of the best players in Steelers history. While he didn’t start his career in Pittsburgh, he quickly became a staple of the franchise. Bettis also has one of the best career conclusions ever, winning a Super Bowl in his hometown of Detroit. However, he started building his legacy at the University of Notre Dame, where Lou Holtz was his head coach.
Unfortunately, Holtz recently passed away. He was 89 years old, and he built a legendary coaching career in college football. That included being at Notre Dame from 1986 to 1996. Bettis was there from 1990 to 1992, and Holtz helped mold him as a young man. He posted a tribute to his former coach on Twitter, sharing some beautiful words for Holtz.
There are moments in life when words just aren’t enough. Losing Coach Holtz is one of those moments.
Coach was so much more than a football coach to me. He was family. I still remember the day he came to my house to recruit me. He didn’t just sit down and talk to me about… pic.twitter.com/rvDCEbUEUj

OLSZEWSKI STAYING WITH GIANTS
The Steelers’ returner spot has changed a lot over the years. That’s one position that the team has struggled to find consistency in. They’ve tried to fix it in multiple different ways, including signing quality returners like Gunner Olszewski. While Olszewski was an All-Pro returner with the New England Patriots, he had a rough two-year stint with the Steelers.
Olszewski has bounced back slightly since then, though. He joined the New York Giants after the Steelers released him in 2023, and he’s stuck with them over the past few seasons. While Olszewski was scheduled to be a free agent, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that he’s returning to the Giants on a one-year deal.
