The Lakers superstar sustained an elbow injury late in regulation.

LeBron James sustained an elbow injury, as the Los Angeles Lakers couldn't ask for a much more devastating night on Thursday as they absorbed a 120-113 loss against the Denver Nuggets.

James drove hard to the basket and nailed a layup with 4:06 left in regulation. But he remained on the floor after landing his left elbow on the ground.

The superstar forward was visibly in pain following the play, got subbed out of the game upon the Lakers' timeout and was treated by Lakers athletic trainer Mike Mancias on the bench.

Despite James' return with around two minutes left, it wasn't enough to lift the Lakers past the Nuggets on the road.

“He’s got ice on it right now and it’ll get looked at,” the Lakers coach said.

James finished the night with 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 35 minutes, as he made history by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA's all-time leader in career field goals made.

Earlier in the game, Deandre Ayton took an untimely exit due to a knee injury. The big man only played four minutes before leaving.
