Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish has a feeling Andy Robertson could yet pen a new deal at Anfield – but believes Celtic are in for a 'bonus' if they can somehow pull a deal off.

However the Hoops legend is adamant the chances are minimal of the 31-year-old ending up back at Parkhead.

Robertson is out of contract at Liverpool this summer and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

The Scotland captain has lifted every major trophy possible since joining the Reds back in 2017.

Two-time Premier League-winner Robertson is regarded as one of the club’s greatest-ever left-backs but has lost his starting spot to £40million man Milos Kerkez this season.

But with Kieran Tierney already on the books at Celtic, Dalglish doubts former Hoops youth player Robbo will make an emotional return.

Dalglish said: “Obviously, his future is dependent on what Liverpool say to him. If they want him, I’m sure he’ll sign. I hope he signs for Liverpool.

“How many left-backs do Celtic need? Why would Celtic even mark somebody’s card that we’re going to go for Robbo? Where’s he going to play? Tierney’s rattled one in again on Wednesday night. He’s prolific now – a goalscoring left-back.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen to Robbo but I do know that he can be proud of what he did at Liverpool. And he can be proud of what he’s done for Scotland.

“So, if he doesn’t sign for Liverpool, somebody’s going to benefit. And if they get him, they’ve a good bonus there.”

It comes after Celtic star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain teased a potential reunion with his former Anfield teammate at Parkhead.

Former Liverpool star Oxlade-Chamberlain, 32, shared a dressing room with Robertson at Anfield for years - lifting the Premier League and Champions League. The pair struck up a close bond, with Oxlade-Chamberlain seeking out the Scotland left-back for advice over a blockbuster move to Glasgow.

He told the Celtic FC Podcast: “Having him as a reference point was perfect for me. He’s told me where I need to live, where I need to go.

“He’s told me everything. He’s a proper Glasgow boy… I just said to him, ‘It’s a shame you’re not here with me.’

“Maybe I came a bit early… he might join me soon. He’s a bit younger than me, Robbo. I’d hope to see him here one day. I think he’d be amazing here.”
