Liverpool predicted starting line-up vs Wolves - teenage pair unleashed as four changes made

Liverpool team predicted to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup fifth round.

Liverpool aim to atone for their defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers when they return to Molineux in the FA Cup fifth round (20.00 GMT).

The Reds suffered a miserable 2-1 loss in the Premier League earlier this week. Arne Slot’s side lacked guile and creativity throughout the encounter, with Andre Trindade’s 94th-minute goal delivering the top flight’s basement side victory in their pursuit of survival.

Liverpool will need to improve markedly if they are to get revenge. Given that the Reds are well out of the title race, the FA Cup is the most realistic chance of silverware. The competition could be Slot’s salvation given the struggles this term. The Anfield head coach remains under pressure, with Liverpool’s chances of a top-five finish hanging in the balance.

The Reds are in the middle of a busy fixture list, with a trip to Galatasaray in the last 16 first leg next week. It means Slot has plenty to weigh up, especially with Florian Wirtz unable to start if he is able to travel, while Alexander Isak, Wataru Endo, Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni, Jayden Danns and Stefan Bajcetic remain absent.

Ahead of the tie, here’s a look at how Liverpool could line-up.

Liverpool team predicted vs Wolves

GK - Alisson Becker

The Brazilian didn’t cover himself in glory with his clearance that gave Wolves possession to score their late winner. But it is unlikely that there will be a change between the posts.

RB - Curtis Jones

Jeremie Frimpong will have to be carefully managed given he’s recently recovered from a groin injury and has had fitness issues this term. Gomez could come in but Slot may want more on the ball so Jones could have to operate as a makeshift option.

CB - Ibrahima Konate

The France international has been sound in recent weeks, although he did get dragged out of position for Wolves’ opening goal.

CB - Virgil van Dijk

The Liverpool captain was not strong enough challenging for a long ball before Wolves’ first goal earlier this week and has to be better.

LB - Andy Robertson

Milos Kerkez didn’t have a bad game in the league match against Wolves but Slot may want fresh legs, so veteran Robertson could be introduced.

CM - Ryan Gravenberch

The Dutchman was hooked at half-time having been booked and been really poor throughout the game. But given that Endo is sidelined and there is no other natural No.6, it is likely that Gravenberch continues.

CM - Dominik Szoboszlai

Didn’t deliver his best performance earlier this week but one of the few players who was entitled to an off-day.

RW - Mo Salah

The Egypt international is in dire form even despite equalising against Wolves but Slot is short of options so Salah is likely to continue.

AM - Trey Nyoni

Slot says that the 19-year-old has made good progress in recent months. Nyoni could get an opportunity.

LW - Rio Ngumoha

There has been plenty of clamour for the 17-year-old to get a chance from the outset, having made an impact yet again earlier in the week. Slot may feel it is finally time to unleash Ngumoha.

ST - Hugo Ekitike

Starved of service earlier this week but has to be better when holding the ball up.

Mamardashvili, Gomez, Frimpong, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Wirtz, Gakpo, Chiesa, Morrison.
