Tino Livramento has been linked with a potential summer move to Manchester City.
Eddie Howe has confirmed there is “no update” on Tino Livramento’s contract situation amid reported Manchester City interest.
An injury-ravaged campaign has resulted in Livramento - currently sidelined with a hamstring problem - playing just 13 Premier League games this season. However, that has not stopped the defender from attracting rival interest.
Reports this week have suggested Man City, this weekend’s opponents, are readying a world-record bid for a full-back to sign the Toon star. NewcastleWorld reported earlier this month that Pep Guardiola had changed tack and was exploring alternative options - but speculation remains.
‘No update’ on Tino Livramento contract
When asked by NewcastleWorld this morning, Howe noted there had been “no update” on Livramento’s contract. His current deal will have two years to run at the end of the season.
New sporting director Ross Wilson insisted tying the 23-year-old down as a “top priority” following his appointment. Sven Botman has since penned an extension but, as it stands, Livramento is yet to commit to his long-term future.
Tino Livramento fitness update
Livramento has not featured since the FA Cup win over Bournemouth in January. On his recovery, Howe added: “He's getting there. Let's wait and see. I think he hasn't trained with us yet, but we hope that he will be very, very soon. He's done a lot of work.
“There's no question on how his fitness is, in the sense that his cardiovascular fitness will be really high. He's been running for a long time, so he's got a lot of work behind him.
“But it's just that training time and that involvement with us. But he's been with all our coaches and done enough. And he's looked really good, so I think he's there or thereabouts.”

What Tino Livramento said in November
Livramento gave an ambiguous answer when asked about penning a contract extension at the back end of last year. He told NewcastleWorld: “That's nothing that I'm in control of. I leave that to my dad, to my agent. For me, I've been out for seven weeks.
“I've been working really hard to come back and obviously help the team. I'm very happy with how I've played (against Man City). That's my focus, staying where I'm at now. That's always been my focus. Helping the team as much as I can.”
