Jack Grealish has clearly loved his time at Everton, but will he be back in the summer?

Football rarely stands still and the advent of profit and sustainability regulations means that clubs like Everton have to be more creative with the books.

Last season they relied heavily on the loan market, however, ahead of the current campaign it was the more modern loan to buy deal for Jack Grealish that caught the eye and allowed them to sign a player who would normally be out of their price range. The option was set at £50m, which is almost irrelevant, but one that David Moyes would pay in a heartbeat to guarantee having the England playmaker back in his squad.

Everton look to re-negotiate Jack Grealish deal

A season-ending injury has prematurely ended his time at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, although his social media posts would suggest otherwise given the weekly love-in with all things connected to the Toffees. A possibly cut-price fee of £20m has been mentioned with Man City even rumoured to be considering letting the 30-year old leave for free just to get him off the wage bill. With City not short of funds for transfer fees, creating space on the wage bill is the next most important issue in terms of PSR and having Grealish still in their squad could see potential new additions being put on hold.

With two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League fixtures, Grealish hasn’t exactly been prolific, but then he played most of these games with two strikers who had scored three goals between them all season before he got injured and Thierno Barry went on an improved run of form. Grealish is one of those players who brings so much more than goals and assists though with his leadership and character being equally as important and a beacon for the younger players in the squad to follow.

Jack to come back to Everton?

One former Blue who has loved seeing Grealish at his old club is Tony Cottee who, speaking exclusively to Liverpool World via the home of online football betting said: “Obviously Jack's injured now, but I'm a huge Jack Grealish fan. I personally love attacking midfield players. I like players that make things happen and I've always been a big fan of Jack. I think he's been excellent for Everton.

“It's a shame he's injured now, but hopefully Everton can tie him up. I think they've really got to look at getting him tied down to a permanent transfer now. I'm pretty certain that Jack, as much as he probably would have enjoyed his time at Man City, I think he would like to probably move on. The Evertonians, the fans, are fantastic. They love a Jack Grealish. I know he loves the fans and the fans love him.

“The sooner they can get him tied up and hopefully get the contract done, the better. If you've got to take a wage cut, you take a wage cut. You do what you've got to do. But at Jack's age and where he is in his football career, he needs to be playing regular football and he needs to be loved. I think he gets both of those things at Everton.

“I think that's really important at Everton. Try and tie him down at the end of the season. But yeah, he's been a great signing for the club.” What he said. Grealish has the smile back on his face and it is Moyes and Everton that have put it there.
