Fabrizio Romano expects there to be a focus on signing a new winger at Liverpool during what he says will be a ‘busy’ summer window for the Reds.
Romano’s comments come during a time when both Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo are being questioned after scoring one in 10 and one in nine matches, respectively.
Aside from said duo, Liverpool have little quality cover on the flanks, with Romano now saying it’s clear the Merseyside outfit ‘need to reinforce’ in that position in the next transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano expecting busy summer with Liverpool signing a winger
Speaking on his YouTube channel this week, the journalist said: “I think it will be a busy summer for Liverpool with wingers. It’s very clear they need to reinforce their wingers.
“The situation with Salah and Gakpo. In general, I think Liverpool need to add something fresh in that position. I will come back very soon to tell you more.”
In terms of actual targets, Romano did mention Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise, who has 13 goals and 25 assists this season, but played down the idea of that move happening.
He added: “Michael Olise is appreciated, but Bayern have no intention at all of letting him go. There’s no release clause in his contract. There are other realistic targets for Liverpool.”

While Olise may not be on the cards in 2026, the Reds have been linked with other potential options.
With Salah continuing to be linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer, Liverpool are said to have a four-man winger shortlist.
Yan Diomande, Nico Williams and PSG duo Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola are all thought to be of interest to the Reds.

RB Leipzig want more than £80m for Diomande at present, but if the German outfit fail to secure Champions League football this season, that price tag could come down.
They are currently fifth in the Bundesliga, which is not enough to qualify for Europe’s premier competition normally.
However, Germany are currently second in UEFA’s coefficient rankings, which means they would be given an extra place.
