Chelsea’s attacking trio were all on song on Wednesday, with Joao Pedro bagging three, Cole Palmer the fourth and Alejandro Garnacho picking up an assist from the left wing, where he repeatedly tore apart the Villa back line.

The Argentine hasn’t been in the team much, but showed a great connection with JP, and after the game he praised his teammate:

“It’s crazy, the guy is just scoring goals. The confidence is very high, and he is helping us a lot, so we are really happy for him,” Garnacho said of his in-form colleague in quotes featured on the Chelsea website..

“He’s performing how he knows to perform. He is a top striker, one of the best on the team, and I just passed it to him because of the hat-trick.”

Getting Garnacho in form key for Chelsea’s run in

While it was great to see Joao Pedro continuing to bang in goals, he was already in form. What was more important was seeing Garnacho himself playing well. He’s struggled far more in his recent appearances, and it’s vital for the run in that we have him confident.

Pedro Neto and Estevao will be back for our next game – but they now have more competition than then may have thought.

In other news…

Chelsea had three attackers picked in the team of the week from the win after a devastating offensive performance.

Moises Caicedo somehow didn’t make that team, but he was superb against Villa, and a passing compilation of his season shows just how good he is on the ball.
