Kenny Dalglish Makes Brutal Andy Robertson Celtic Transfer Claim

Kenny Dalglish has weighed in on the growing talk around Andy Robertson’s future, with the Scotland captain’s situation at Liverpool sparking discussion about where he might play next.

Robertson has been a mainstay at Anfield for years, winning the Premier League and Champions League while becoming one of the most recognisable full-backs in the country. His contract situation has brought fresh speculation, with some supporters wondering whether a move elsewhere could eventually appear.

The Celtic rumours picked up again recently after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain mentioned Robertson while speaking about former teammates, which only added more fuel to the rumours.

Dalglish, however, believes the situation largely depends on what Liverpool decide. The former Celtic and Liverpool striker also questioned whether the Hoops would even have room for Robertson given the current options on the left side of the defence.

Kieran Tierney’s recent form has only strengthened that point. The full-back scored again in midweek and continues to play a major role when Celtic attack from wide areas.

Dalglish said: (TCW), “Obviously, his future is dependent on what Liverpool say to him. If they want him, I’m sure he’ll sign. I hope he signs for Liverpool.

“How many left-backs do Celtic need? Why would Celtic even mark somebody’s card that we’re going to go for Robbo? Where’s he going to play? Tierney’s rattled one in again on Wednesday night. He’s prolific now – a goalscoring left-back.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen to Robbo but I do know that he can be proud of what he did at Liverpool. And he can be proud of what he’s done for Scotland.

“So, if he doesn’t sign for Liverpool, somebody’s going to benefit. And if they get him, they’ve a good bonus there.”

Robertson’s place at Liverpool has rarely been questioned during his time there. His energy down the left flank and ability to deliver early crosses helped shape the way the team attacks.

At Celtic, the picture on that side of the defence already looks crowded. Tierney remains first choice when fit and continues to push forward whenever the team builds down the left.

Behind him, Marcelo Saracchi has provided cover during the season. The Uruguayan has stepped in when required and recently earned praise from Martin O’Neill after a strong display away to Stuttgart.

With Tierney holding the starting spot and Saracchi providing cover, the idea of Robertson returning to Celtic raises a number of questions. That point is even clearer now with Saracchi’s agent sitting down with the club today to discuss a possible permanent move.
