Arsenal goalkeeper Jack Tomlin has completed his move to West Ham, according to reports.

Youth team reporter George Bird has claimed that the academy graduate has “signed for” the Hammers after failing to secure a scholarship with the Premier League leaders.

Tomlin had been with the Gunners Under 16s, but he started training with the Hammers Under 18s quite some time ago, although it wasn’t clear if he was on a trial or had been handed a youth contract.

The teenager was an unused substitute when Eddie Keen’s team took on Crystal Palace last weekend.

What do fans need to know about Tomlin?

To be honest, not a lot is known about the shot-stopper. He is still 16 years of age and is eligible to play in several age groups.

Last season, Tomlin made the bench for three of Arsenal’s Under 18 matches, including the fixtures against West Brom, Southampton and Fulham, but he has known for a while that he would not be staying at Hale End.

The keeper will need to make a big impression in order to secure himself a professional deal at West Ham, having been deemed not good enough by the Gunners. Buy a West Ham shirt from Umbro here.

West Ham have a lot of young goalkeepers

Tomlin has it all to do in order to get game time for the Under-18s. Eddie Keen already has three keepers available for selection, including Lanre Awesu, Finley Hooper and Tommy Goodgeer.

Awesu, in particular, has shown a lot of promise. He has received caps for England’s Under 17s and Under 18s over the past couple of years, and he has also made a few appearances for West Ham in Premier League 2.
