Super Bowl champion guard available for Steelers to sign

The Pittsburgh Steelers have several notable needs ahead of free agency, the most notable being quarterback and wide receiver. The future of Aaron Rodgers remains up in the air, and Pittsburgh has just three receivers under contract at the time of writing. One position group that may fly a bit under the radar, though, is the offensive line.

Isaac Seumalo will hit the open market next week, having a vacancy up front. Additionally, reserve linemen Andrus Peat, Max Scharping, and Ryan McCollum are all set to be free agents, as well. With that in mind, Pittsburgh could turn its attention to a recently-released guard.

The Los Angeles Chargers parted ways with [Mekhi Becton](https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/48098931/source-chargers-release-mekhi-becton-cost-cutting-move) earlier in the week. Los Angeles signed Becton ahead of the 2025 season after he spent 2024 as the Philadelphia Eagles right guard, winning a Super Bowl in the process.

While Becton had a rough 2025, he showed while with the Eagles that he can be very productive when playing in between a quality tackle and center. A starting role may not suit him in Pittsburgh, but a top reserve role could be worth looking into.
