Joao Pedro tells Chelsea teammate how to win over Liam Rosenior

Joao Pedro has publicly outlined the blueprint for Alejandro Garnacho to claim his permanent place in Chelsea’s starting XI after an impressive display against Aston Villa.

Alejandro Garnacho and Joao Pedro were the two star performers against Aston Villa, with three goals for the latter and an assist for the former.

Chelsea were handed opportunities to progress in the top four race too, as Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa all dropped points in their respective games.

But the most promising thing about it all was how much Garnacho stepped up. He’s received a lot of criticism of late for being too lazy and not a team player, but his unselfishness for Pedro’s third suggests that Garnacho may have turned a corner at Chelsea.

After the game, Joao Pedro even offered the Argentine some advice on how he can keep this form up.

Joao Pedro offers Alejandro Garnacho some advice

On the whole, Pedro was very impressed with Garnacho’s display against Aston Villa, but his key words were hard work pays off in this Chelsea side (BBC Sport).

He calls Garnacho an “important player” with “great experience”. Also adding, “His time is going to come. He just needs to keep working hard and soon he’ll be on the pitch more.”

Garnacho is going the right away about it, with Liam Rosenior speaking about just how impressed he was with the Argentine’s display.

However, inconsistency has been a major issue for Garnacho throughout his career, so it’s important he doesn’t let up and continues to work hard.

Joao Pedro also touched on how he’s felt since joining Chelsea

Speaking in the same BBC Sport interview, Pedro nailed it on the head and showed the exact kind of mentality that Garnacho should have, to always give your all, no matter the pressure.

“I just try not to think too much about the outside. I just try to do my best every match, and hopefully I can keep doing that and get 20 goals this season.

“Yeah, I’ve been here in England a long time – six years already – and I was working to get to this point, to arrive at a big club. My opportunity came and now I need to try to do my best every day.

“If you come to play for Chelsea, there is pressure every day, every season. This is normal. We just have to do our job.”
