Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in managing Real Madrid if they can sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. The German has told his agents not to proceed with talks unless the Argentine's signature is guaranteed.
According to TEAMtalk's Graeme Bailey, Klopp has set his condition for Real Madrid this summer. He is keen on getting back in the dugout, but wants Fernandez to be in his squad next season.
The report comes just weeks after Dean Jones told TEAMtalk that Los Blancos were given encouragement to make a move for Fernandez. He said:
"Real Madrid sources say the club have been given indications that Chelsea would be willing to sell Enzo Fernandez at the right price. The midfielder’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain beyond this season, and Madrid have been monitoring the situation closely. While some Chelsea players are considered untouchable, it is understood that the Argentina international is not entirely off-limits."
“Sources suggest that initial exploratory talks have hinted, via intermediaries, that Chelsea could become open to a summer deal if their valuation is met. The player joined Chelsea for £106.8million – so any transfer is going to become one of the most significant fees ever seen in La Liga.”
Klopp reportedly sees the midfield as a key issue at Santiago Bernabeu and believes they need the Argentine to bolster the squad. He is adamant about the signing, as he does not see any other player in the world worth getting to play in the position.
Chelsea signed Fernandez for £106 million in 2023 after battling Benfica for a month. They were moved by his performance at the FIFA World Cup, and he has since become the club vice-captain.
Real Madrid eyeing Jurgen Klopp as Alvaro Arbeloa replacement
Real Madrid hired Alvaro Arbeloa as the replacement for Xabi Alonso in January after the former Bayer Leverkusen manager parted ways. The Spaniard has not impressed at Santiago Bernabeu so far and is already under pressure.
The Athletic have reported that Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is open to making another change in the summer. They have not listed names, but Jurgen Klopp has been the main target mentioned in the media.
Max Allegri has also been touted as an option for the Spanish giants, with Italian media insisting that the AC Milan coach is one of the top targets for Real Madrid this summer.
