Maxx Crosby trade: The Chicago Bears just got more good news in their pursuit of the Las Vegas Raiders edge.
Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears are working to get this squad to where it needs to be to get to the Super Bowl in the 2026-27 season, and they’ll pretty much stop at nothing to get there. That possibly includes a Maxx Crosby trade to get the Las Vegas Raiders edge.
The Bears already made waves on Thursday, March 5, doing a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Bills to trade away wide receiver DJ Moore. According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Buffalo Bills will get DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick in the deal, while theChicago Bears will secure 2026 second-round pick.
What’s drawing attention is how that move will also clear up salary cap space for the Chicago Bears, which is likely a strong motivator for why Ben Johnson did it. Now, the Bears are believed to be one of the frontrunners for Crosby, and they just got even more good news about it.
Chicago Bears Are Favorites to Snag Maxx Crosby From the Las Vegas Raiders
The Bears have emerged as favorite to get Crosby, after the Dallas Cowboys fell out of the running on Thursday. According to Kalshi, the Bears have surged ahead in predictions, and right below them, it’s Crosby just staying in Las Vegas.
That’s good news, and on top of it, in a Thursday, March 5 feature for For the Win, Robert Zeglinski reports that the timing of the DJ Moore trade is a good sign for the Bears.
The trade, he notes, “means an additional $16.5 million is now available for the Bears to work with. When now-retired center Drew Dalman’s departure is made official, the Bears will have about another $10 million available, giving them just about $34 million in cap space without any more cuts or trades (Tremaine Edmunds?).”
He adds, “Factor in the second-round draft pick the Bills sent to the Bears for Moore, and Chicago now also has a solid war chest to work with in terms of trade assets.”
Plus, let’s talk about the timing of the Moore trade. He notes that “it doesn’t feel like a coincidence that reports that the Las Vegas Raiders were more open to trading Maxx Crosby came out right after the terms of the Bears’ Moore trade were finalized. Lest anyone forget, the Bears have apparently been the favorite for Crosby, should he leave Las Vegas, all week.”
Las Vegas Raiders Seem Willing to Trade Maxx Crosby
During the 2026 NFL Combine, Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek was asked about the status of Crosby with the franchise. At the event, when asked if he seems Crosby with the Raiders in 2026, he said, according to ESPN, “I do.”
But, that may have changed. “Maxx is an elite player, and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them,” he said at the time.
But, Spytek said he’s also willing to listen to offers to trade any player, noting, “I learned a long time ago, always listen. I’m always listening.”
