How Chelsea players reacted after seeing Jadon Sancho before 4-1 win vs Aston Villa

Former Chelsea stars Jadon Sancho and Tammy Abraham were unable to get the better of their old team when they were part of a 4-1 defeat at Villa Park.

Joao Pedro was the star attacker on the day, but Chelsea fans gave a nice reception to Abraham after the game following his service as a Cobham graduate.

It was unclear how strong a reception Sancho would get though. He was only at the club for a full season, not being signed by the Blues permanently.

He's overtaken the Chelsea icon's first-season numbers.

Jadon Sancho warmly greeted by Chelsea stars ahead of win vs Aston Villa

The England international started on the bench on Wednesday, and he was quick to approach the Chelsea bench that contained many of his former teammates before the game started.

As shown by a video from CFCJnR, he shook hands with Marc Cucurella and Marc Guiu, before embracing Tosin Adarabioyo and returning to the Villa dugout.

It was clear that Sancho was a popular member of the squad at Chelsea. The entire squad, including those on the bench, ran over to celebrate with him after his goal in the Conference League final.

He would end up contributing to 15 goals in his only campaign in West London, a figure some attackers currently at the club would be more than happy with.

Sancho must be regretting summer decision

It was reported that Chelsea were open to the idea of offering a contract to the winger when his loan spell came to an end, although did not want to meet his wage demands.

This is a decision Sancho must regret due to the part he has played for Villa throughout this season.

He has started just seven Premier League games this season, and provided one assist and zero goals so far for a side who are lacking firepower.

Given the underwhelming performances this season from Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, there was a real chance he could have made a significant contribution at Stamford Bridge this season.
