Stephen A. Smith on Kon Knueppel: 'This brother is a walking bucket'

With their current six-game winning streak, the Charlotte Hornets have continued to turn heads around the league.

Although the first five wins of their current run came against teams sitting 10th or worse in their respective conferences, the Hornets proved once again Wednesday night that they are a force to be reckoned with no matter the opponent.

The Hornets did so by cruising to a 29-point road victory against the current No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics.

In the victory, it was once again the trio of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel who did the majority of the damage.

Both Ball and Knueppel knocked down four triples each, as Knueppel finished with a team-high 20 points.

Following Charlotte's performance, NBA media personality Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the Rookie of the Year award race, touching on Knueppel's success this season.

Smith said: "Right now, I would still have to give the Rookie of the Year to Kon Knueppel. I can't believe what I'm seeing from this kid. I really, really can't. This brother is a walking bucket."

Smith goes on to talk about how Knueppel's success has been recognized by his peers throughout the league.

Knueppel's basketball intelligence has already been praised by Giannis Antetokounmpo while Draymond Green has compared his shooting to that of Klay Thompson.

That said, while Knueppel may currently be the favorite to win the award, there's still plenty of games left to be played.

Knueppel and the Hornets have 19 remaining, while Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks have 20 left. Flagg just returned from injury Thursday after missing eight games with a foot injury.

Either way, as the season comes to a close, the Rookie of the Year award race is in for a thrilling finish.
