Joshua Abe’s future has become one of the most intriguing subplots of Liverpool’s summer, with the 15‑year‑old winger attracting serious interest from Arsenal and Manchester City as he edges towards the end of his current scholarship terms.

The England youth international is yet to formally accept Liverpool’s offer, and with academy rules allowing him to speak to other clubs once his scholarship cycle finishes in June, there is a growing fear at Kirkby that a rival could swoop in for one of the brightest talents of his age group. Both Arsenal and City have monitored Abe closely after his rapid rise through the age groups and early exposure to Liverpool’s under‑21s, viewing the lack of a signed deal as an opportunity.

Those concerns intensified when Abe recently chose to sign with PLG Agency, the company co‑owned by Trent Alexander‑Arnold’s brother and closely tied to the Liverpool right‑back.

PLG has become a major player in the market, representing Alexander‑Arnold himself and a clutch of elite Premier League names, and it was central to brokering the full‑back’s blockbuster move from Liverpool to Real Madrid last summer.

Abe’s decision to join the agency, coming shortly after a high‑profile visit to the Bernabéu where he met Real stars such as Vinicius Junior, only fuelled talk that the youngster might be positioning himself for a glamorous move away from Anfield.

Yet, in classic modern‑football fashion, a tiny social‑media interaction has offered Liverpool supporters a sliver of hope that the story may yet have a happier ending on Merseyside. Rising Ballers, a popular youth‑football platform, this week posted a graphic hailing Liverpool’s “scary” future on the wings and explicitly framed Abe as a key part of the club’s long‑term attacking plans.

Eagle‑eyed fans quickly spotted that Abe had liked the post.

For now, nothing is signed and the threat from Arsenal, City and Europe’s heavyweights remains very real, but Liverpool believe the pathway they can offer — from Kirkby to the Kop, as shown by Alexander‑Arnold himself — still gives them a compelling case. If Abe’s Instagram activity is any indication, the winger might just be leaning towards writing the next chapter of that story in red.
